The Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will host the bi-annual conference:#BeThere – It Takes a Community from August 1-3, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. The meeting is the only suicide prevention conference that specifically addresses suicide in military and veteran populations at a national level. This year’s conference theme, #BeThere – It Takes a Community, is consistent with DoD and VA methodologies which require a multi-pronged strategy for prevention including media messaging, non-medical interventions, mental health interventions, training for gatekeepers, peer-to-peer support, troop and family member training, and leadership engagement. The DoD and VA recognize that education on a comprehensive public health approach to suicide prevention is vital.
This year’s conference brings together experts from a variety of disciplines for cross-training and pollination of research findings, clinical pathways, and empirical experience that cannot be gained via other means. Please join us for this ground-breaking event. Military Service personnel, Veterans, and their families live and work in every community in the United States. With more than 1,000 participants from all corners of the country, your organization’s materials and information will reach a wide range of community groups and leaders in the field of suicide prevention, focusing specifically on Service Members, Veterans, and their families.

*Please note in order to receive a certificate of completion from Employee Education System, you must attend 100% of the program, sign in each day, and complete an online evaluation within two weeks after the conference end date. You will then be able to download your own certificate after evaluation submission. EES can not issue certificates for less than 100% participation as required by accrediting body.
